An exciting and rare opportunity to join one of the UK's leading insurers as an Underwriting Manager specialising in binder management.


Responsible for achieving business income and annual Target Loss Ratios objectives by managing the technical performance of accounts and by delivering an efficient underwriting service to brokers. The role will involve collaborating with the MD to develop the business unit plan and subsequently implement the underwriting elements to achieve financial income and loss ratio objectives, strategically manage scheme/binder accounts. Implementing budgets, tracking and performance, assisting with referrals agreed technical standards and customer service standards, support the development of underwriting staff in the branch by delivering technical guidance, allocate underwriting authorities within the business and ensure acceptable standards are maintained by the implementation of a structured audit procedure, undertake referral cases above the authority levels of underwriters under the jobholder’s control, work closely with A&P to produce performance results, challenge where necessary and advise of any changes in accounts that may affect ultimate result, setting up new binding facilities and bespoke arrangements.


The right individual will have a broad underwriting background, predominantly commercial that has been used to running scheme business / binders. You will also be used to running binders with sub delegated authority to brokers.
