Claims Controller

Our client, a large insurer, are looking for a Claims Controller who has experience of handling fatal and catastrophic PI claims of £1million plus. The successful candidate will have experience of handling cases of the utmost severity including amputees, fatal injuries and brain injuries.


Additional responsibilities will include managing and handling high value or otherwise technically complex claims cases, to support the development of technical training and to support key claims projects and initiatives to include the claims technical audit programme.


General Description


Investigate and resolve the high value, complex, contentious and strategically important Personal Injury claims in a technically excellent manner to ensure they are properly reserved and settled at optimum costs.
Manage disputed claims and other material claims issues in order to resolve as quickly and economically as possible.
Assist Claims Technical Manager in order to identify and implement:
Best Practice initiatives
Technical projects and Technical Marketing
Service provider management
Act as a Technical and referral point for other departments in order to provide excellent claims handling advice.
Produce regular statistical and analytical claims information to Portfolio Managers and Senior Management to enable effective monitoring of claims.
Develop/ maintain in-depth knowledge of claims portfolio, so as to ensure delivery of accurate information to Underwriters and Management when requested.
Ensure claims files are compiled and maintained in a logical and accessible manner and that coverage and/or other claims issues are clearly documented at all times.



Desirable Requirements

ACII qualified or progress towards completion of insurance qualifications.
Proven track record of resolving claims for injuries of the upmost severity within Motor
Audit experience.
Project management skills.
Training planning and delivery.
Evidence of ability to deploy a commercial and legal analysis.
Strong Investigative skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Effective presentation skills.
Relationship Management Skills.
Able to use MS Office applications, Word. Excel, Access PowerPoint
