A City based insurance broker seek a Claims Technician/Broker to work within their Marine division. Working with designated client claims from initial advice to final settlement, the role will involve approximately 80% technical claims duties and 20% claims broking.


Responsibilities will include:


Collation of information for submission to underwriters
Evaluating insurers’ offers and making recommendations to clients
Broking of claims to Lloyd’s and Company markets
Evaluating claims in light of policy wordings and limits of cover
Providing a pro-active service to expedite the collection and settlement of claims, liaising between all parties and actively chasing information
Negotiating best settlement of clients’ claims with insurers
Account reconciliation
Resolving both client and underwriters queries
Other office duties as required


The successful applicant must have technical claims and broking experience within the London Market and a solid working knowledge of Marine Hull work, P&I, Liabilities and Cargo. Successful applicants must also be computer literate, particularly in Word and Excel. You will have a high level of familiarity with the London Market processes and systems and exposure to the CLASS computer system and ECF exposure would also be valuable.


The successful candidate must have strong negotiation and influencing skills with an ability to build and maintain profitable long-term relationships with both clients and insurers. Insurance qualifications including LLMIT and ACII are useful but not essential.
