A rapidly expanding insurance company require a motivated claims handler to proactively handle motor personal injury and complex claims, negotiating early and economic settlement within the company's parameters.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Make up and input onto the computer any claim allocated that has not been made up by the inputting department.
Complete all the information for the facing sheet, input information onto the system.
Deal with all new claims correspondence as outlined within the service standards agreement.
Establish liability and indemnity on all claims within the allocation.
Set and maintain reserves within own authority level.
Maintain an effective diary regime.
Evaluate and negotiate personal injury and non-injury motor claims.
Assist Claims department team members and Team Leaders in maintaining post within service standards and in any other way as required.
Requisition of claims payments.
Close any settled claim and re-open such file, if necessary.
Refer any claim to the Claims Director or Technical Claims Manager should the nature of the claim change, deteriorate or require major adjustment to the reserve.
Refer any claim to the Claims Director or Technical Claims Manager that equals or exceeds your personal limit of authority and or meets the serious loss criteria associated with those limits.
Negotiate compensation payable to policyholders, garages, recovery operators and third parties and/or their representative.
Act appropriately to Data Protection requirements.
Assist as a referral or training resource as required.
If necessary, provide assistance with both internal and external audit requirements.
Maintain awareness to company risk exposure


SKILLS


Previous experience in handling third party personal injury claims of a more serious nature
Knowledge of legislation and case law relevant to the role
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to prioritise workload
Self motivated and enthusiastic
