Highly respected independent Lloyd’s Broker is looking for an individual to join them in a key management role, running their Marine Underwriting team.


As the Marine Underwriting Manager you will be primarily responsible for managing the department and providing a quality service to Underwriters and Brokers across all classes of Marine Business. You would also be assisting with the management and negotiation of the Binding Authorities currently in place within the department. In conjunction with the Sales & Marketing team you will assist with developing market
intelligence identifying the demand for new and existing products and services within the Marine classes of business.


The successful candidate will have proven London Market underwriting experience, along with the ability to operate at a senior level dealing with brokers, new prospects and the Market. Ideally the candidate would be qualified to ACII or equivalent standard.


The successful candidate is likely to have a strong technical knowledge and understanding, commensurate with the seniority of the position and, in particular, experience of Marine products, current market conditions, FSA requirements relating to all classes of departmental business and significant knowledge of underwriting practices and the operation / management of Binding Authorities. The position requires proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, develop and empower colleagues to achieve objectives within a team
approach. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and motivate, along with exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, are integral to the role.
