Opportunity to join a global and highly respected re/insurer within their established and well regarded Marine Hull team.


Responsible for underwriting accounts in a consistent and technical manner within the authority limits attributed you will: participate in the decision process for facultative retrocession and arrange it accordingly for business underwritten in accordance with the general guidelines; input into the Department technical database information relevant to business underwritten so that records may be properly maintained; supervise the underwriting assistant and assistant/junior underwriter in the preparation and checking of underwriting documents for major business (slips, cover notes, debit notes); supervise junior colleagues in the field of underwriting, reinsurance arrangement, IMACS input, preparation of cover notes, debit notes and similar documents. You will also be responsible for monitoring premium chasing activity results and issuing of NOCs, when necessary; acting as the primary contact for Group Companies with respect of their reinsurance needs; act as the primary contact for allocated clients in order to promote consistency of service and to refer where necessary; co-operate in the definition of business strategies and budget forecasts by providing elaborated information on underwriting trends/results and prepare and run first analyses on statistical packages as required.


The right individual must have good technical Marine Underwriting background and good working knowledge of claims handling, knowledge of the Marine market at both national and international level, knowledge of at least one foreign language an asset, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office application package (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and good working knowledge of IMACS or similar.
