Vice President – Personal & Commercial Lines Bermuda | Relocation Supported

A leading Bermuda-based insurance business is seeking an experienced insurance professional to join its operation as Vice President – Personal & Commercial Lines (P&C).

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a senior leadership position with overall responsibility for the strategic direction, underwriting performance and leadership of the Personal & Commercial Lines function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced P&C insurance professional looking to take ownership of a broad portfolio, lead and develop an established team, and play a key role in the continued development of the business.

The Opportunity

The successful individual will take overall responsibility for the successful execution of the P&C department's strategic objectives and business plan.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing overall underwriting direction, oversight and leadership across Personal & Commercial Lines.
• Leading and developing the P&C underwriting teams, ensuring high service standards and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Conducting proactive underwriting reviews with Senior Underwriters and Team Leaders.
• Ensuring risks are assessed appropriately and terms, conditions and premiums are set in line with relevant risk factors.
• Conducting file audits covering underwriting authority, guidelines, documentation and service standards.
• Developing, maintaining and refining rating tools, metrics, underwriting guidelines and authority letters.
• Supporting onboarding, training and the day-to-day management and development of underwriting teams.
• Producing regular qualitative and quantitative analysis and management information.
• Working closely with the Claims Manager to ensure claims are handled efficiently and in accordance with policy wording.
• Working alongside the CEO on facultative and treaty reinsurance placements.
• Developing and expanding relationships with existing and new clients and referral business streams.
• Preparing quarterly Board reports and participating in relevant sub-committee meetings.

About You

We are looking for a senior insurance professional who combines strong technical P&C expertise with proven leadership and commercial judgement.

You will ideally bring:

• A minimum of 7 years' experience within insurance or reinsurance.
• At least 5 years' people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance across multiple lines of business.
• Demonstrable experience of underwriting procedures, guidelines and authority levels.
• An insurance industry qualification/designation such as CPCU or ACII
• A degree or Master's degree is also required.
