Overview
As a Senior Accountant, you’ll be at the heart of managing and refining financial operations. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the general ledger for the company and underwriting pools.
- Prepare, review, and analyse monthly management accounts, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct monthly expense variance analysis and support cash flow management.
- Handle the monthly close process, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns, annual P11D returns, and support regulatory compliance.
- Oversee monthly payrolls ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Assist with annual expense budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and statutory audits.
- Develop and improve financial controls and reporting solutions continually.
- Support treasury, liquidity planning, and ad-hoc financial analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Reconcile multi-currency underwriting transactions, manage outstanding debts, and liaise with underwriting teams to resolve discrepancies.
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in an insurance finance role or similar setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Sage 200.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Experience with insurance accounting and managing multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of underwriting account procedures and policies.
- Experience with regulatory reporting and external audits.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-currency transactions.
