Head of Data Governance and Quality

The Position

We’re looking for the right candidate to be our Head of Data Governance and Quality to help drive forward our portfolio of challenging and interesting data focused projects in the UK and globally.

Summary of the role

Joining us as the Head of Data Governance and Quality you will lead the advancement and implementation of Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, rolling out across the Group. You will help to embed a culture of excellence in Data Governance within the business. You will report directly to the Head of Data.

Responsibilities

  • Own, enhance and lead the Data Governance and Quality frameworks
  • Review business processes with business SMEs and implement workflows required to ensure appropriate identification of critical data, implement cleansing activities and data assurance controls/processes
  • Lay out the roadmap to implement Data Governance and Quality tools, processes and resources
  • Oversee?the development of?metadata management?tools (including workflow set up, population of report catalogue etc.)
  • Work closely with technology teams in selection and implementation of Data Governance tools
  • Lead the documentation, implementation and compliance of specific data requirements and policies (e.g. Data Dictionary for key data repositories,?Business Glossary,?report specifications, data extracts etc.)
  • Own controls around access to data and reporting?on data?operating efficiency
  • Ensure consistent and complete data monitoring and evaluation of quality against agreed standards
  • Liaise with external parties where necessary to help ensure their data handling requirements are being met and demonstrate the effectiveness of the Data Governance programme
  • Lead or contribute to?programmes?of work such as Master Data Management (e.g. Reltio), Data Governance (e.g. Collibra), Data Platform etc.
  • Help to mature data management and data usage across the business. Create and lead roll out strategies and oversee user adoption
  • Lead implementation of Data Quality processes (including establishing controls, critical data, escalation procedures and quality targets)
  • Design and deploy processes to monitor Data Quality
  • Own procedures for identifying and remediating Data Quality issues
  • Lead the Data Governance and Quality team
  • Work closely with stakeholders in Information Security, Data Protection and GDPR functions

Requirements

  • Experience of working in Data Governance and Quality role in the Insurance sector (at least 5 years) 
  • Solid understanding of current IT Security standards (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI, UKGC, Data Protection) 
  • Demonstrable experience of Data Governance approaches and practices in large organisation(s) 
  • Solid experience working with business, data and technical teams to clearly document Data Governance and metadata requirements 
  • Experience in Data Loss Prevention
  • Experience of working in an Agile project environment 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with both business and technical partners 
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Experience with Data Governance tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica, Orchestra Networks etc.) 
  • Experience with master data management capabilities (e.g. Reltio, Maestro MDS etc.) 
  • Advanced user, certified in Data Quality focused software (e.g. Collibra DQ, Informatica)
  • CISM/CISSP and/or other relevant IT Security related qualification
  • BCS Diploma in Business Analysis, CII Certified an advantage
